Rotting Syro Malabar Catholic Church in Kerala

Christianity came to Kerala when St.Thomas the apostle landed in the ancient port of Kodungallur in Kerala. History says he converted lot of Jeweish and native people and established 7 and half church in Kerala. Indian christian community or St.Thomas Christians revolted when Portugese tried to impose Latin rites and rule of Pope on them and later divided into various groups like Catholics with Eastern rites, Orthodox, Jacobites etc.

Yes, Syro Malabar church can boast about its history, but from the revolt till the present day it committed and still committing lot of errors much like the Popes did which later resulted in ""Reformation".

The first mistake was proclaiming allegiance to Pope. This resulted in loosing the identity of the community, all the rituals and traditions were tampered with, by the diktats from Rome, eventually resulting in a soulless church which dish out nothing but evil to its community. The errors it committed were endless among the good things it has done with regard to education and health and other services.

History is repeating itself in Kerala, much like olden Europe where the church meddled in politics, power and money. In Kerala the Syro Malabar Catholic church is repeating the same mistakes, by involving itself in playing petty politics, playing into the hands of nasty political leaders(every day out of hand statements by uncontrolled bishops), giving away assets to people from dubious and mafia backgrounds (Deepika case), murders (the impending Abhaya case), business of education (self financing colleges) and what not.

Do you think it is time for another reformation in the Syro Malabar Church ? It is headless now, with each bishops are doing things according to his whims and fancies. They like power, people with money, does business and talks business like investors. The holy mass dished out by these unholy men are so sombre and uninteresting and there is no element of truth in them when they do the rites of the mass. They should introspect about their private lives, are their minds clear, whether they are doing things right, before comes to address people or for a Mass.

Today, Bible is just another publication for them for Sundays, because the other days they are voraciously lapping up all the daily newspapers to put out statements thinking that they are fighting for "their" rights. Whose rights, for what?

The Syro Malabar community should go back to its roots, the ancient history it belongs, resist the changes by Rome to secretly change the culture and traditions. It is high time the laity must resist these kind of covert Latinisation, and go back to its roots.

Twilight zone for Communists in Kerala

Kerala is the place of first democratically elected Communist government in the world. The party has fought several wars and won several to the benefit of Malayalees like the Land Reforms and Literacy movements etc. One cannot forget the contributions of older Communists and the party to the Kerala society. The successful Kerala model of human and social development is famed and is a case study and accepted as a model by United Nations for developing and underdeveloped nations. The Communist contributions to this model is exemplary and must be honoured.

There where communal riots in Kerala, but I believe the one major factor why Kerala has not turned into a communal hot bed like other parts of India is because of the presence of large number of Communist party members in all major religions of the Kerala society. The thinking patterns evolved by the communist leaders and governments played their role, because they are averse to religion and those members who are believers make it low key.

These made the comrades less sensitive to matters pertaining to religion and hence successful in large part not to inflame communal passions. Of course they play communal cards to will elections but they are not into the game of communal clashes and riots to belittle or dominate a section of the society or to gain political mileage among the majority.

Now the present communist government headed by hardliner and old timer Chief Minister Mr.V S Achuthandan is now in a mess. It is not entirely the fault of VS but the dilemma faced by the Communists in terms of economic realities. Their ideologies and dogmas are challenged by the liberalisation policies of India and the fast paced exclusive development of India. For development one needs investments, but for them how to accept those investments are a headache. It should be inline with their ideologies but is there any businessmen like that ?

Inclusive economic growth of the marginalised society in India, a dream of Communists is not happening and they are not able to do much about it.

The new generation in the Communist leadership in India/Kerala are not like the old time fighters of the party who fought many a wars with the establishment and won. They like the cosy environment of the rich and famous and easy money. Take this example., the party daily newspaper in Kerala - Deshabimani's Manager, a party man and key confidante of General Secretary of the party unit in Kerala accepted Rs. 2 Crore as "donation" - or shall we say bribe - for the development of the Newspaper. The money was given by a notorious lottery king in India, for alleged favours.

There were party enquires, but nothing happened, he is back in Deshabimani. This was unheard of in the previous generation of Communists. They were clean and not tied to money as much as their young counter parts. These young turks in Communists are much like capitalists, they engage in lavish weddings and parties, much to the chargin of ordinary party workers. They want money, fame and they are not bound by the ideologies, which they consider as failed.

I am not a Communist party member, but I admire most of their previous leaders and their works which benefited me, my society, Kerala and India in general.

Look at the crime statistics related to sex in Kerala and you can see startling figures. The recent one is about a 14 year old sold as a prostitute by her aunt. She was sold to even tourists both foreign and local who flock to the house boat tourism in Kerala.

The price she got was AIDS and she died recently. Think about the perverted minds in Kerala, the Santhosh Madavan types and other perverted minds who thinks that sex with children or underaged is good for their health and longivity.

Last year there was attack on westerners during the New Year revelries. If you have been to Kerala and has experienced the oggling, the kind of visual rape, then this was waiting to happen. The trend in Google shows the truth, sex comes first in Kerala.
